Business Description

 

Marine Services Company Limited (MSCL) was incorporated with effect from Dec 8th, 1997 under Company Ordinance and gazaetted on June 21st, 1999.  Prior to that date it was an integral part of TRC.  MSC headquarters are located in Mwanza and operates in three distinct markets in Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika and Lake Nyasa, and within each it provides passengers services and cargo transportations.

The initial share capital of the company is Tanzania shillings one million (1,000,000/-) divided into one thousand (1,000) shares of one thousand shillings (1,000/-) each.

Marine Services Company Ltd. Operates passenger services in the great East African lakes, namely Victoria, Tanganyika and Nyasa with foreign voyages to Mpulungu in Zambia, Bujumbura in Burundi, Kalemie, Uvira and Baraka in Congo and Nkata Bay in Malawi.

Market Analysis

MSC operates in three markets namely Lakes Victoria, Tanganyika and Nyasa.  In the essence of passenger and cargo transportation services, MSC also catalyses socio-economic activities alongside the lakes.  MSC expects to excel more marketing activities in order to boost the revenue sources will be developed.  The  sound Marketing Plan in place will ensure proper pricing, services, promotion and distribution programs are implemented accordingly. It also ensures customer relations management.

 

Operation Plan

MSC ought to ensure all vessels and routes are operated at full capacities.  This will involve servicing and maintenance of idle vessels before establishing respective routes according to the commercial needs.  All vessels will be subjected to a formal preventive Service and Maintenances Schedule/Plan that will ensure safety and security of MSC vessels.

The human resources, professional advisory services and office arrangements will complement highly in MSC business objective achievements.  With required  quantity and quality of well motivated competent manpower, the MSC operations are expected to be effective.  Professional consultancies in business, management, legal and technical areas is highly promoted.  With reliable office facilities and arrangement such as technology and buildings, MSC is optimal of realizing the objectives.

 

Organization Plan

The well defined organization structure is designed in a more technical manner in order to enable the business plan to be a success.  The business plan achievement is an obligation of all departments  regarding their respective duties and responsibilities.  Each department will be filled by competent  and  qualified staff.  The organization structure is then designed to excel the effective and efficiency business operation.  Team working and networking stand a core point of the plan.

 

Business Financing

MSC is currently expanding its current capacity in terms of size, technology, variety, customers, revenue and profit margin.  This will be facilitated by strong financial base and stability by the company in order to keep it, a business oriented and self sustained company.

This will help MSC to increase its current market share and increase passengers numbers and revenue by five (5) percent and cargo revenue by ten (10) percent every year to the year 2013.
